This book was centered on a teenage boy looking for his place in life. He had poor parents who ditched him when he was 14 years old; this gave him an opportunity to get out in the real world and experience a vast amount of things with the help of a man he meets along the way.

I read this book in the past. I really loved it and I deffinetly plan on reading it again. Good job at summing up the book.

Excellent work Matt. You have obviously put a tremendous amount of work into your blog and the result is outstanding. Not only is your writing clear and concise, even your layout is impressive. I have not yet read this book, but after reading your posts, I think I will check it out.
Haven't read this particular novel, but i've read a lot of Gary Paulsen's other works. They have been good generally, and always seem a bit more than just reality. a good read all around.
